EL SOMBRERO CAFE, since 1950.
This is a family owned restaurant since 1950, making it the oldest restaurant in the Vegas Valley. Recent rumors of the family selling reminded me to try it again, and it was about the same as every time we go. The food is authentic and well prepared. Fresh is about the only way to describe there salsa, if your looking for spicy you can find it on certain items, and PACKED is how to describe a regular lunch or dinner rush. Its a small place one might call a "hole in the wall" but once you sit down it only feels cozy and comfortable. Enjoy this restaurant while you can, because if they do close down the next best MEXICAN will be somewhere on the STRIP. The Menu hasn't changed much in 60 years, prices have gone up slightly the past few years but nothing out of the norm. They offer lunch specials every day as well, so our suggestion is to try it, you'll thank us.
As of 2014 El Sombrero has remodeled and upgraded many features to their long running restaurant. We will have to visit again real soon, until then check out the reviews left by recent patrons.
